December 2009

We had a banner fall on the Humptulips and Satsop Rivers with limits almost daily.
Despite the less than perfect weather conditions fishing has continued to stay on fire.
We expect to stroll into winter with the same momentum.  The Wynoochee and Cowlitz
are already starting to see good numbers of Winter Steelhead showing. Expect a mixed
bag of coho and steelhead for the next couple of weeks.   Come out for the fresh
chrome winter steelhead pouring into the fish box.

November 2009

To say that October and November was good fishing for Coho would be an
understatement!   Most days we ended up with limits of fresh coho with our slowest day
still hooking up with 5 fish.  Most fish were taken casting custom spinners (pinks and
chartreuse #4,#5,#6's)  Also twitching jigs and backtrolling K-15 and K-16  sardine
wrapped kwikfish.  We will be chasing these chrome bruisers on the Satsop and
Cowlitz until the end of December.  I will also be doing combo trips for both Winter
Steelhead and Silvers since we are starting to see some fresh Steelhead starting to
show up on both the Cowlitz  river as well as the Wynoochee.   I will be starting winter
steelhead trips at the end of December through March on the Wynoochee River.
Wether you are looking to sharpen your skills or learn new water or techniques give me
a call I have prime dates available.   So dont wait and lets get out on the water!

October 2009 Fall Salmon

September was a great month to get out on the water and catch one of the many coho
that returned to the Chehalis River System.  We enjoyed sunny weather and lots of
Coho!  Most of the coho were in the mid-teens making the fishery worth while.  October
is shaping up to be a much drier than normal but still very successful month.  We are
fishing on the Humptulips and Chehalis Rivers with easy lmits of King Chinook Salmon
as well as lots of nice bright Coho Salmon.  Those of you scheduled to fish the next few
weeks are in for a real treat.

August 2009

The month of August was amazing on the Columbia River for Fall Chinook and Coho
Salmon.  We fished all month at Buoy 10 out of Astoria.  Full day clients enjoyed
catching limits of Hatchery Coho and Chinook while releasing plenty of native fish
along the way.  The next couple of weeks will see the end of the peak Buoy 10 Fall
salmon fishery, but we still have a few seats open for anyone who'd like to get out
before the season is over.

The steelhead fishing on the lower Cowlitz has been very good this last month.   We
are looking forward to getting back to this amazing fishery within the next couple of
weeks as the Coho and Chinook Salmon make entry as they move up through the
Columbia River System.

We still have a couple seats left for the Humptulips River Fishery which opens
September 16th and runs through October.  This is an amazing fishery with tons of
Huge Fall Kings Salmon.  The limit is two salmon, one of which can be a Native Fall
Chinook.  Don't miss the opportunity to catch one of these Trophy Humptulips River
Fall Chinook!

Fall Salmon and Summer Steelhead

This has been a great month for both the kick off of fall salmon and the continued
success of the summer steelhead season.

Everyone is excited about the huge returns expected this year for Columbia River.  The
season opened up August 1st and was better than normal with many boats catching
limits of coho and a lot of Chinook being caught as well.  Now is the time to call and
reserve your spot for the Buoy 10 Fall Salmon Fishery.

The Nisqually fishery has also kicked off with bang.  There are fish to be caught as
long as you can get to the right holes.  Boaters have been catching 2-3 fish a day and
we've even hit quite a few limits of adult Coho/Chinook.  Be aware that the current
netting schedule on the Nisqually River is from Sunday at noon, until Thursday at noon.

We have been consistently catching 2-4 steelhead a day on the Wynoochee floating
from both 7400 and Cross Over.  The recent rains helped bring the water levels up to
guidable/driftable levels.
It's like a ghost river with only 1-3 boats a day on the river.  This makes for a very nice,
quiet and scenic float down the beautiful Wynoochee River.

The Cowlitz River has been a little slower than usual this summer but we've managed
to pull our fare share of steelies out of the river.  Pulling plugs and drift fishing have
been equally productive.

Fishing Report February 5th, 2009

Floated from 7400 on the Wynoochee River to the White Bridge Boat Launch.  Went 3
for 5.  Most days we are hooking 2 to 5 fish a day.  The Wynoochee is running at
600cfs, with 3 feet of visibility.  Steelhead fishing on the Wynoochee River should
improve throughout the next few weeks.  We are catching steelhead on pink tad pollies
and green and chrome brad's wigglers, and side drifting eggs.  Springer season's right
around the corner.  Book now for prime dates.  Record runs expected.

FIshing Report Jan. 3, 2009

Wynoochee River running at 1600 cfs, water in great fishing condition. Three to four
feet of visibility below the diversion dam on the Wynoochee.  Fished  between Black
Creek Boat Launch and the diversion dam.  Had a great day of fishing, went 6 for 6. I
have available dates for Jan. and Feb. Call Jessica for discounted rates.

Fishing Report Dec 29th, 2008

Winter Run Steelhead are starting to show in good numbers on the Wynoochee River
in S.W. Washington. The slow snow melt has brought the  Wynoochee River up, and
has 3-4 feet of visibility. Side drifting eggs, and bobber and jigs have proven very
effective. We are averaging 3-4 fish each day and are anticipating fishing to improve
through the month of January. The Cowlitz River in S.W. Washington has been in great
shape, but the fishing has been slow to fair at best. We are hoping on a late Steelhead
run on the Cowlitz River.

Report for Week December 7th, 2008
We are starting to get excited for Winter Steelhead on the Wynoochee River!  The
water is up and the fish are coming in.  We've been catching a good number of steelies
and a coho or two.

Report for Week November 23rd, 2008

Satsop River Coho fishing is still in full swing and water conditions are perfect. We are
starting to see a few winter run Steelhead. on the Wynoochee sidedrifing eggs,
Steelhead fishing will only get better through the month as coho fishing winds down.
Cowlitz River still running high and dirty, but should start to clear throughout the week.

Report for Week November 16th, 2008

With all the rain and high water on the Chehalis, Satsop, and Wynoochee I had a
chance to make it down to the Cowlitz for some early winter Steelhead action.  The
water conditions and weather were absolutly perfect!  I managed to scratch out  a
couple winter run and a few summer run each day. Look for things to only get better
from here. Im back on the satsop this week as it drops back into shape chasing those
big late Silvers. Fish the softer shallow water when the water has low vis. Kwikfish, and
casting vibrax spinners worked for us today. Give me a call for WINTER STEELHEAD
DATES AVAIL. ON THE COWLITZ RIVER. See you on the water Casey
